Moving into a new apartment can be a fun and exciting time! A fresh start, and a chance to decorate to make it a place that you can’t wait to come home to, entertain in, or just relax! You don’t need all new furniture to give your apartment a new and luxurious feel.
Throw Pillows
Throw pillows are one of the easiest ways to give a room a defined clear style and an upscale appearance on any budget. If you have neutral furniture and want to add a bright, bold pop of color, go for a geometric pattern or a bold color. Have an older, comfy sofa that you love but want to add a luxurious touch? Go for neutral colors in luxurious fabrics such as a faux fur, a woven or knit texture, or even something with some gold or silver metallic accents. You can mix colors, too! There are no real rules when it comes to your own personal style, but if you are struggling to come up with a color scheme, try picking a base color such as red, and then pick different colors that are variations of red (burgundy, orange or pink are all good examples).
Throws
A beautiful throw adds a cozy touch to any sofa, lounge chair or bedroom. There are so many options with throws right now for any budget and style. For more of a rustic style, try a chunky knit blanket in a neutral off-white, gray, or blush. For a luxurious and ultra comfy feel, look for a micro-fleece that is unbelievably soft, warm and inviting. Toss your throw casually across the arm of your sofa, end of your chaise, or across the corner of your bed for a casual but finished look.
Rugs
Area rugs are a wonderful way to customize the sometimes generic flooring in an apartment. A cute soft rug for the bathroom in your favorite color and a bright and inviting rug for the kitchen are good places to start.
Large area rugs for your living room or dining space are lovely but can be a bit pricier depending on the size and material. You can also add runners in hallways or doorways to make your apartment feel like one cohesive space.
Curtains
Last but not least, curtains! Almost all apartments come with window coverings, but they are typically plain, functional blinds. Adding your own curtains to compliment the blinds truly gives a luxurious feel. A very popular choice is a sheer white or off-white curtain that will look great in a bedroom or living area, and gives a clean and breezy feel to the room.
What finishing touches will you add to make your new apartment?
